Bruce Bell (’85)

Chair of the UC Davis Foundation

Bruce Bell (‘85)

Bruce is a partner in B&Z Properties, Inc., a Rancho Cordova-based developer, builder and manager of office and residential properties in the greater Sacramento region. B&Z Properties was created when Bruce and his partner, Jim Zurbuchen, bought out capital development pioneer Chris Steele in early 2001. The firm was formerly known as Steele Enterprises, and Bruce had been working there since 1996.

In the early to mid 2000s, B&Z Properties was one of the most active builders of office space in Sacramento. The firm has since added high-end residential land development projects, including the Verdera development that surrounds the former Twelve Bridges Golf Club in Lincoln.

Bruce began his career at AKT Development and later formed Bell Properties, a firm he started with his father, Bob Bell, a well-known Sacramento land-use attorney.

Bruce is currently the Chair of the UC Davis Foundation. He and his wife Wendy are both graduates of the UC Davis College of Letters and Science, and are Chancellor’s Laureates. Together they have multiple connections to the UC Davis community and are dedicated to the global impact of the university. They are well known for their enthusiasm and support for UC Davis athletics. They and their three boys live in Sacramento and Santa Barbara.
