Participating in the Campus Community Survey

1.30.13

Dear UC Davis Colleagues:

During the next couple of days, UC Davis will be launching our part of what is believed to be the largest survey of its kind ever conducted in American higher education - a systemwide study of student, faculty and staff attitudes and experiences with diversity and inclusion throughout the University of California.

Our Campus Community Survey is voluntary and participants' identities will be confidential, but I strongly urge all of you to let your voices be heard in this important effort to make sure our campuses allow everyone to live, learn and work in a supportive and respectful environment, where we are all treated fairly and with dignity, regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, appearance and sexual orientation.

Academic and research excellence are the foundation that make UC Davis such an outstanding university, but without adhering to our Principles of Community by fostering an environment of mutual respect and cooperation, none of us will have the experience here that we want for ourselves and others.

You will soon receive a personalized email with specific information about how to complete the survey. In the meantime, you can also find detailed information about the survey, including how it will be administered and how the information will be used, at this website - http://campusclimate.ucop.edu/ - developed by the UC Office of the President.

To show our appreciation for those who take the time to complete the survey, everyone who participates will be entered into a systemwide drawing for the following items provided by the Office of the President:

  • A $10,000 undergraduate scholarship (one scholarship will be awarded)
  • A $5,000 Faculty Research Grant (two grants will be awarded)
  • A $2,000 Staff Professional Development Grant (five grants will be awarded)
  • Two $5,000 Graduate/Professional Postdoc/Student/Trainee Stipend
  • An iPad (24 will be awarded)

In addition, the two UC Davis campuses will each provide their own prizes through a random drawing for those students, staff and faculty who participate in the survey:

Incentive prizes for the Davis campus:

  • iPads (4)
  • $25 Aggie gift cards (75)
  • $25 UC Davis Stores gift cards (25)
  • $25 restaurant gift cards (10)
  • $25 Starbucks gift cards (10)
  • $25 iTunes gift cards (10)
  • $25 gas gift cards (10)

Incentive prizes for the Sacramento campus

  • iPads (8)
  • $25 gift cards (100)

The university is committed to finding out how we can improve our work and living environments. We need your participation to succeed. This is a chance to let us know what you think is working well and where we can improve. Please take part so your thoughts and experiences can be included in this important and valuable survey.

Sincerely,

Linda P.B. Katehi
