A Message to the UC Davis Community

To the UC Davis Community,

Welcome to the 2018-19 academic year! It’s been wonderful to feel the buzz of excitement as students arrive and the hum of the community gains momentum. We’re off to a tremendous start. In just the past few weeks, UC Davis was placed among the Top 10 in four different rankings of national universities. This is because of the dedication and talent of our faculty, students and staff.

We’ve got programs and initiatives to look forward to this year. Soon, we’ll share the final draft of UC Davis’ 10-year strategic plan, which I’ve named “To Boldly Go.” The plan represents a future of UC Davis that’s driven by curiosity, excellence and a pioneering spirit.

We’re continuing our Leadership Job Shadow Program, which is a meaningful way for campus leaders and students to engage with and learn from each other. I encourage our undergraduate and graduate students to apply starting Tuesday, Sept. 25.

Finally, we all deserve to thrive in a UC Davis community that’s free of violence and values mutual respect. UC Davis will not relent in the fight against sexual violence, and we will uphold Title IX protections for students who experience sexual violence on campus. I have taken the Upstander Pledge and encourage you all to do so as well. You can find more information at sexualviolence.ucdavis.edu.

Let’s continue to be good to one another. Let’s look out for one another and bring out our best as the year moves along.

I wish a successful 2018-19 academic year for our entire UC Davis community. There’s no better time to be an Aggie, and more than ever, it’s time to let the world know.

Go Ags!
