Dear Colleagues,

A new video, created with the Budget and Institutional Analysis team, provides a high-level overview of the $6.7 billion UC Davis budget, why we have a core funds structural deficit and how it compounds each year. It also provides important background and context that is useful for all of us to make strategic decisions that better support our mission.

If you have recently heard me or Sarah Mangum, Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget and Institutional Analysis, speak about the budget, this well-designed and succinct video may look or sound familiar. It is distilled down from an hour-long presentation that we have delivered several times over the last year. Additionally, I hope this will serve as a helpful tool for discussions related to the official Budget Status and Allocations letter that was distributed to campus leaders last week.
